Special Instructions & Care

Donning & Doffing

As instructed by your Fitter, we strongly encourage you to use donning gloves for applying and removing your garment. These gloves not only help grip the garment for easier application, but they also prevent runs and holes from jewellery, nails, or fingers. If you did not receive gloves, please feel free to contact our office. The first pair is always free! We also offer a variety of devices to further assist donning and doffing.

Wash & Care

Your daytime compression garments should be washed regularly and after every day of use. Hand or machine-wash your garment in cool or warm water, with a mild detergent. Hang or tumble dry. Avoid fabric softeners and powders. Nighttime garments and wraps can be washed weekly or as needed. Compression garments are not indestructible, so it is important to keep skin moisturized, nails trimmed, and be cautious of rough surfaces. If you apply moisurizers, we recommend doing so in the evening.

Daytime vs. Nighttime Garments

Your daytime garments (i.e., stockings, socks, or sleeves/gloves) should be worn during waking hours only. These garments should be removed in the evening. Individual care plans are different for everyone, so it is important to follow the instructions of your health care provider. If you were recommended a night garment or compression wrap, these may be worn 24 hours if needed.

Warranty

We provide a 48-hour fitting warranty. If you are having difficulty or concerns with the fit, style, or fabric of your garment, please call our office and we will be happy to assist you in finding an alternate garment for exchange. Custom-made garments offer a one time, 10 day warranty and we are happy to make any adjustments needed. There is no warranty on runs or wear and tear.
